Gestational Diabetes (GDM)

Gestational Diabetes, or "GDM" affects approximately 2%-10% of pregnancies every year.

Although receiving any diagnosis while pregnant can be confusing or scary, the good news is that many women are able to control their blood sugar with nutrition and physical movement.

If you are diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes (GDM), don't worry.  We will go over everything you need to know, including a plan of what to eat, recipe ideas that fit your palate, how to check your blood sugar, and how/ when to fit in exercise.

It is my priority to see patients with GDM as soon as possible, and am able to get most patients seen within 1 week.  These appointments typically last 60-90 minutes to ensure that all of your questions are answered.  You are welcome to bring a support person to the appointment.

You do not have to be a patient at Durham Women's Clinic in order to see me.   You may contact me directly at 919-564-8900 to set up an appointment.  Telehealth is also available.

Please ask your OB to fax a referral order to me at 919-200-7224.

Please see the section on Insurance and Pricing for additional questions.
